A custom-made 17M / 12M 2-element Vertical antenna manufactured by Zero-Five Vertical Antennas. Built with .058” tubing, this vertical is solid & substantial. The 17M vertical is 14 FT in length allowing for tuning to the frequency most desired, and the 12/M is 10 FT. The two verticals are mounted upon a common SO239 with a fold-over base, making setup & tuning easy. No tuner is required on either band. I use a pair of raised radials per band. Alpha Delta DX-SWL Antenna: This sloper antenna covers 630m to 13m, and up to 1000W of input power. Alpha Delta HF SWL Sloper Antennas are a very unique and very effective adaptation of existing antenna theory. They operate as quarter wave slopers, which means that the wires are one quarter wavelength long; or multiples of a quarter-wave on each frequency band.
Compared to a standard half wave dipole, the other quarter wave of these antennas, which is necessary for performance and the proper feed point impedance, is made up of the "Down-Lead" wire, which is attached.
With a quarter wave sloper, the center conductor of the coax is attached to the radiating wires and the shield of the coax is attached to the down lead. Standard SO-239 (UHF female) connectors are provided on the ALP-DX-SWL for this purpose. They go for close to two hundred on DXE with shipping and delivery.
