FOR SALE: Heathkit Twins, PS, Speaker: I have for sale a very nice HR-1680 receiver, a HX-1681 transmitter, an HP-23 power supply and the speaker of your choice ... either the SB-600, in which the power supply will fit, or the HS 1661 that is made to match this series, but which does not hold the power supply. This setup has factory QSK built-in which operates very well. The price is $700 for the set with the SB-600 speaker, or $675 for the set with the HS-1661 speaker. Heathkit DX-40, 35 Crystal door: Lost the manual and schematic.
Many HealthKit's are sold missing crystal covers. This is the oh so rare crystal cover. Without this cover your transmitters airflow will not be as designed and you run the risk of your re-capping melting. Prevents thief's from easily stealing your crystals. A more constant temperature reduces drift.
No returns due to cover swapping. Real men use crystal covers to protect their, "investment."

The radio is in good working condition receiving most of local radio stations in my area on Medium Wave Band. No reception on the other Band, which is a Short Wave Band.

The Bakelite cabinet is in good condition overall with no cracks or scratches or imperfections. The Bakelite cabinet does not have any provisions for back cover.

Circa 1980. Covers 10KHZ to 11MHZ but is currently inop. The unit turns on but that is about all. Desired frequency is selected by pushbutton, output level by turning a knob. I am selling it cheap for restoration or parts purposes. The unit is complete and great cosmetically, nothing broken or missing. $30 takes plus only the actual post to your zip. The unit has a 5X8 face and is 18 inches deep weighing about 25 lbs.
