FS: VIKING VALIANT, HQ180 w S-200 spkr: Very nice, working vintage Viking Valiant 100W HF ( 80-10 meter ) amateur/ham transmitter, Hammarlund HQ180 HF receiver with matching Hammarlund S-200 speaker, also working well. Cabinets and paint are in excellent shape. Classic vintage ham AM station.
The Valiant's electrolytic caps have been replaced, the rectifiers have been changed from 866s to a new pair of 3B28 rectifiers, and the infamous "chernobyl" resistor in the VFO compartment has been replaced. Otherwise no mods to the circuit that I could detect. Transmitter puts out 100 -120 watts of carrier. Sounds good on AM.
Everything works as it should on the HQ180, including the clock.
Have manuals for both units. Take the three pieces ( transmitter, receiver, and speaker ) for $575.
You need to supply your own microphone ( D104 crystal mic works well )

This radio covers 0.1 to 30 MHz. the 1530 is the industrial/military version of the R-530. It has ALL FILTERS in it: AM Filter, CW Filter and USB/LSB filters are all present. National NCX-5 + NCX-A: NCX-5 Mark 1 transceiver and NCX-A power supply.
The rig works and I've made many contacts with it and received good audio reports always.
There are a few problems I haven't fixed as my "spare" time has kinda vanished:
1) Five watts output on 15 and 10 meters, tho the grid drive to the final is normal. Perhaps due to bad finals, and I don't have a spare set.
2) I haven't been able to get the specified linearity from the dial and lost patience with it.
3) The case and speaker that went with the power supply are not included. The supply has a pigtail into which you can plug in a speaker of your choice.
Appearance is fair with few scratches but no major damage. Photos available. No obvious mods to the radio, tho the power supply appears to have been recapped at some point.

The beautiful example was completely redone 10 years ago by a local engineer. I acquired it around 8 years ago and have continued to operate it and to restore it back to as original condition as current conditions allow. I'm selling it as I plan to downsize and move in the next year and I won't have room for this transmitter. It needs a new loving home.
